More traditional technic in watercolour !!!!
First time ever I try to do flowers in watercolours. What figurative expressionist flowers look like here is an example. I usually draw sunflower and use my pastels sticks and my entourage just buy those instantly!!! I never see them after in my stock even none in my images repertory.
This time I got a watercolour technic book from the library and I am challenging myself, exploring a different technic and palette using my no good Chinese cotton rag paper. Usually my technic is quite unique and unorthodox but one can always learn something new and I did and use a decoupage for the finishing touch. I am quite happy with the result but I don't think flowers as a subject will be a thing for me I need something more poignant.
So here are my tulips for you, what was exciting is I decided to almost copy the style shown and used a similar palette. I don't really work in blues and greens so it was exciting to see how magical greens can be. You always learn!
The second exercise was in earthy with purple colours and it was a lion's head. The book image is a fierce alfa lion's head image...mine looks like a "domesticated " lion sweet and cuddly!!!!
I guess one's nature passes through their work! Have a great weekend all over the world its spring in Brisbane.
