In a large movement of the arm and a twist of the body the fisherman throws up in the air the fishing net. It gains velocity, it opens up for a fraction of a second. Swelled up taking shape with the momentum of the throw and the help of the wind it flies suspended before our eyes before gracefully dropping open in a delicate splash over the surface of the water.
In a macro seconds visual time perception I watched over and over as I aimed at transposing the transparency of the fishing net in the air, the flow of the movement and expressed my fascination of the almost transparent movement. Transposing visually my fascination of an ancestral human activity illustrated in cave paintings since the beginning of times, net fishing is and has been an important human activity just as is painting is.
I did several version and trials before settling for this very gestural version of which I am very proud. The greens and blues are uniquely created for this piece .
