Rene is about addiction. Gaetan came back from Korea addicted badly and Rene's addiction was alcohol but here it is not theirs but hers. Rich families go to horrible extends to cover up events and making a family member addicted was no sweat for those educated men of both my natural mother and her sister.

Ruined lives for money and appearances and destroying mine who was a child. Rene came and played the saviour,  a simple,  rough,  uneducated man who saw a woman and a child in total distress sinking.  The impact on the children and the people around the addict and where the addict lives is enormous and left an imprint on my life , my choices and decisions. She suffered all her life of depression, isolation, abandonment and she was a good person. A very powerful artwork if you have a family member who is addicted it will resonate strongly with you.
